The Healthiest Foods On The Planet

Not sure which foods are worth nibbling on? I’m sure you will already be aware that it is important to stay well away from sugars and fats, but are you 100% clear on which foods can greatly improve your overall health and fitness?

Well, worry not! We’ve done some research and have found out that the following foods are some of the healthiest on the planet.

Lemons

Every type of citrus fruit is good for you, but lemons are particularly special. That’s because one single lemon provides you with your full recommended daily allowance of vitamin C. Of course, you don’t have to eat your lemon to get that – it would be way too sour – but you can slice up a lemon and add it to a glass of water. As well as being packed full of vitamins, some of the citrus acids in lemons are anti inflammatory.

Spinach

There’s a reason why Spinach was one of Popeye’s favorite foods. It’s just so damn healthy! It’s a fantastic source of protein, especially for vegetarians and vegans who don’t get their protein from meat sources. In fact, these green leaves contain the same amount of protein as a boiled egg but with half the calories! It’s such a versatile veggie as well – you can add it to soups, sandwiches, and smoothies!

Nuts

Do you often wonder about what to eat after a workout? Well, nuts are one of your best options. They are also good before a workout as they are full of quick-release energy. Almonds are good for protein while cashews are excellent sources of important minerals including magnesium, phosphorous, and calcium. Peanut butter is a great way to include more nuts into your diet – just make sure that you buy the stuff that is 100% peanuts and nothing else!

Tea

Water is the best way to stay hydrated, but tea comes in a close second. Not all teas, though. You need to make sure that you are drinking healthy green and herbal teas. For example, pure green tea is a natural source of caffeine that can keep your energy levels up. Red teas are good for those who need to watch their weight as they contain naturally occurring chemicals that can help speed up the metabolism.

Broccoli

There are lots of great veggies out there, but one of the best ones has to be broccoli. It’s a good source of vitamin C as well as other naturally occurring chemicals that can promote fat burning around the midriff. That’s not all, though, as some scientific studies have linked this wonder vegetable to reducing the risk of certain cancers, including prostate and skin. However, this vegetable might not be suitable for those of you who have sensitive stomachs, as it can cause gas in some people.

So, now you know which foods you need to start filling your plates with! And, once you do, you will certainly feel your fitness and health improve. So, what are you waiting for – it’s time to eat!
